About Lady Brabourne College
Lady Brabourne College was established by the Government of West Bengal in 1939. It was named after the wife of lord Brabourne who served as a Governor of Bengal till February 1939. It is situated opposite the Park Circus Maidan, Kolkata. The college is affiliated to the . Lady Brabourne College was set up primarily to provide Higher Education to women. It has altogether 19 departments in the arts and Science stream. It has 84 full time teachers, 32 part time teachers and several guest lecturers.

Postgraduate Courses in Lady Brabourne College: Lady Brabourne College offers post Graduate Courses in Microbiology and Geography under the affiliation of Calcutta University.
Apart from these undergraduate and postgraduate courses Lady Brabourne College is also going to launch Ph.D programme in Geography and Microbiology. The College is also running a certificate course in Computer in collaboration with WEBEL informatics.

Admission to the Undergraduate Courses
Admission forms for the undergraduate courses at Lady Brabourne College are made available after the Higher Secondary results of the West Bengal government are declared. Candidates will have to produce original mark sheet for procuring the application form from the College Counter. However they can also download the application forms from the College website. Admission to all the courses is done on the basis of the performance of the candidates in their 12th Board examination except for English (Hons).
A written test is conducted for admission to the English (Hons) course.The necessary documents that are to be submitted along with the application forms include-the original mark sheet & admit card of the HigherSecondary Examination (non laminated),
attested copies of Higher Secondary mark sheet, admit card of Secondary Examination & SC, ST and physically handicapped candidates must produce the relevant original certificates.
For its consistent good performance Lady Brabourne College was awarded with "A" accredition by National Assessment and Accredition Council (NAAC) in 2006.
