About Sophia College
Sophia College for Women was set up in 1940 and it is run by the Society for Higher Education in India trust. This trust belongs to the Society of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. It is located near the Breach Candy hospital in India's financial capital Mumbai. The Sophia College for Women is affiliated to the since 1950.
Facilities at Sophia College
This women's college in Mumbai also provides fine hostel facilities to about 105 girls. Students of the Sophia College for Women are actively encouraged to participate in co-curricular and extra curricular activities.Separate courts for badminton, basketball and Volleyball are available in the campus. For interested students arrangements for football and swimming are also made.
Among the indoor games facilities are available for carom chess and table tennis. Classes on Aerobics, Yoga and Martial Arts are also conducted by the College.

Admissions to courses at Sophia College for Women:
Admission to the Higher Secondary Courses: For admission to the Higher Secondary courses at Sophia College of Women candidates need to pass the SSC examination conducted by the Maharashtra Education Board.
Candidates from other boards must obtain the eligibility certificate from the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and higher Secondary Examination. Application forms are made available after the Maharashtra SSC results are out. The necessary documents to be submitted along with the application form are-
Eligibility application form, Original migration certificate and photocopy of the mark sheet, pass certificate and school leaving certificate.
Admission to the Degree courses:For admission to the degree courses candidates need to pass the Higher Secondary Certificate Examination conducted by the Maharashtra board. However candidates from other boards can also be considered for admission provided they produce the "provisional eligibility certificate" from the Registrar, University of Mumbai.
Admission Procedure at Sophia College
Admission forms for the degree courses are made available only after the Higher Secondary Results of the Maharashtra board are declared. After obtaining to the college students need to submit the original and Xerox copies of passing certificate, statement of marks and migration certificate for confirmation of their eligibility.Admission to the postgraduate courses is done according to rules of the University of Mumbai.
For its consistent good performance Sophia College for Women was awarded "A" grade by the National Assessment and Accredition Council (NAAC) India.
