South Calcutta Girl's College was established in the year 1932. Educationist late Peary Mohan Chatterjee took the initiative of establishing this school for providing holistic education to the young girls of the region. - Botany (20 seats) - Candidates with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate and 55% marks in Botany are eligible to apply. Candidates are required to have at least pass marks in Chemistry. Pass marks should also be there in Practical and Theory exams.
- Economics (10 seats)-Subject (55% marks), aggregate (55%), Maths (45%) and English (50%).
- Geography (30 seats) - Direct admission is given to the students with 60% marks in both subject and aggregate.
- Zoology (20 seats) - Students with an aggregate of 55% and 60% marks obtained in bio-science are given admission. They are also required to have pass marks in Theory and Practical exams and also in Chemistry.
B.A (General) and B.Sc (General) - As per the admission rules mentioned by the University of Calcutta.

South Calcutta Girl's College Admission Procedure
The admission process takes place every year in the month of June and July after the declaration of the 10+2 results. The application form and prospectus can be obtained from the college office on all weekdays between 11am to 2pm. Candidates may even download the application form from the official website of the college. The duly filled in application form along with the fees and required documents should be submitted to the college office within the mentioned date. Documents that are to be attached with the completed application forms are: one attested photocopy of the mark sheet of the previous examination, and one attested photocopy of Admit Card or any document which specifies date of Birth and one copy of recent stamp size passport photograph. You need to submit documents during admissions like: Original Mark Sheet, Date of Birth Certificate and Migration certificate.
Admissions procedure starts on 1st June 2009. Classes are scheduled to start on 7th July 2009. Merit list will be published on 11th June.
