The history of Indraprastha College for Women, or IP College, as it is popularly known, can be traced back to 1904 when Indraprastha Girls School was founded. It was established at the initiative of a group of local theosophists led by Lala Jugal Kishore. By 1930s IP became a full-fledged college. The recognized it as a degree College in 1938. Over the years IP College has established itself as a prominent educational institutes for women in India.
Facilities at Indraprastha College
The hostel of Indraprastha College was set up in 1952 and today it can accommodate up to 200 students. The IP College library stores more than 78,000 books and subscribes more than 100 regular magazines and journals.
The College is also equipped with a canteen, computer lab, bank, P.C.O., Cyber café, medical room and a beautiful garden. Students at IP College are encouraged to take part in various co-curricular and extra curricular activities.
Activities at Indraprastha College
The dramatics Society, debating societies, film society music & dance society, women development society, fine art society, Gandhi Study Circle, Nature Club, Women Development cell are very active at IP College. Sports facilities are provided for Volleyball, basketball, Hockey, Cricket, Badminton, table tennis, Hand ball, Kho Kho, Gymnastics and Judo. IP College also has a well-equipped gymnasium and swimming pool.
Courses at Indraprastha College for Women
Indraprastha College for women offers courses in all the three streams- arts, science and Commerce. Thus it offers 3-year undergraduate honours courses in Commerce, English, Mathematics, Psychology, Hindi, Philosophy, Sanskrit, B.Sc Computer Science, Economics, History, Political Science and Mass Media & Mass Communication. Apart from these courses it also offers a B.A. program.
IP College also enrolls students for postgraduate courses in Economics, History, Operational Research, Psychology, Mathematics, Philosophy, Sanskrit, English, Hindi, Music and Political Science.
Admission Procedure:
Admissions to the English (Hons) degree course is done on the basis of an entrance exam. For admission to the rest of the degree courses, the marks of the senior secondary examination will be taken into consideration.
The Entrance test consists of multiple choice questions. Candidates are required to know general English and have good General Knowledge.
For admission to Bachelor in Mass Media & Mass Communication BMMMC, candidates have to appear for a three-tier entrance test. Girl student who have scored 55% aggregate marks in 10+2 exams are only eligible to apply for admissions to the BMMMC course.

Obtaining College Prospectus
Candidates seeking admissions to the various degree courses can obtain a copy of the prospectus by post by sending a draft of Rs.100/ in favor of the Principal Indraprastha College.
For obtaining hostel prospectus a separate draft of Rs. 125/- in favor of the Principal Indraprastha College has to be sent by post.
Last date for getting 'BMMMC Forms' is14 June 2008 and forms for other subjects will be available on the college website from 1st, 2008.
