Army Institute of Law - Mohali

The Army Institute of Law or AIL, as it is popularly known, was established in 1999 primarily to provide quality legal education to the wards of the Army personnel. It is affiliated to the Punjabi University Patiala and the Bar Council of India approves this affiliation. AIL concentrates not only in providing class room teaching but it also encourages students to participate in the extra-curricular and co-curricular activities in the campus. The teaching method of AIL aims at maximizing the participation of students. Interactive sessions are regarded integral part of the teaching-learning exercise at AIL. Students are also involved in the seminars, moot courts and various projects and in senior semesters they carry around 50% weight age of the practical marks.

Army Institute of Law is a residential College and all enrolled students are expected to reside in the hostel of the institute. However students of AIL are not bound to join the Army after the completion of their course.

Army Institute of Law Eligibility Criteria for Admissions



You must score at least 60% in aggregate in 10+2 exam. Moreover your degree should be from a recognized board or an institute. You should be of 17 years of age at the time of admission.

Application Procedure for Army Institute of Law



You can collect the application forms from the following centers:
  • Army Institute of Law, Sector - 68, Mohali
  • Enquiry and Information Centre, Punjabi University, Patiala
  • Guru Nanak Dev University Campus, Amritsar.
  • Guru Nanak Dev University Regional Centre, Gurdaspur
  • Guru Nanak Dev Univesity Regional Centre, Basti Nao, Jalandhar
  • Punjabi University Regional Centre, Bathinda
  • You have to buy the form and the prospectus by paying either Rs.600 by hand or Rs.660 by post.
  • Adding to that, you have to pay the Registration fee of Rs.1000. This amount has to be deposited while you submit the filled application form.
  • The demand draft is drawn in favor of the Registrar, Punjabi University, Patiala, and Payable at Patiala.
  • Completed application forms are to be sent at the following address:

Pattern of AIL Entrance Test



In the entrance test, you have to answer questions on Logic, General English, Current Affairs, General Awareness, Reasoning ability, and General Knowledge.

Important Information for AIL



The forms and the prospectus are available from - 19th May 2008
The applications forms have to be submitted by - 05th Jun 2008
You will receive the admit card from the Punjabi University, Patiala if your application forms have reached the concerned authority.
Date of Entrance Test - 22nd Jun 2008
The result will be declared on - 30 Jun 08
First counseling will be on - 03 Jul 2008.
