| Birla Institute of Technology and Science, or BITS, as it is popularly known, was established as a deemed University in 1964 under section 3 of the U.G.C. Act 1956. But the genesis of BITS Pilani can be traced back to early 1990s when a small school was founded by late Mr. G.D. Birla. Since then it has seen tremendous growth and today BITS Pilani has established itself as one of the best institutes of Technical Education in India. It is located at Pilani in Rajasthan. Birla Institute of Technology and Science has campuses also in Dubai and Goa. A campus at Hyderabad is also coming up soon.
The BITS Pilani offers good infrastructure and the students are encouraged to take part in various co-curricular and extra- curricular activities in the campus. It offers sports facilities for Football, Hockey, Cricket, Basketball, Volleyball, Tennis, Badminton, table Tennis, Athletics, Gymnastics, Health Club, Swimming, water polo, weightlifting and others. Eligibility Criteria for BITS Pilani Courses:
Candidates who wish to apply for admission to any one of the programs except B.Pharm.(Hons.) and M.Sc.(Hons.) Biological Sciences need to have passed their 12th examination from a recognized Central or State board or an equivalent board and should have had the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics in their 12th standard. Candidates who had a biology subject in their 12th can apply for admission to B.Pharm.(Hons.) and M.Sc.(Hons.) Biological Sciences. Birla Institute of Technology and Science also offer direct admission to board toppers to their programs.
BITS Pilani Application Procedure:
Students who wish to apply for the programs at Birla Institute of Technology and Science need to download their on-line application form, fill it up and then send it directly to admissions officer of BITS, Pilani. A 'challan' or demand draft for Rs 200 also has to be sent along the application form as fees.
