INTRODUCTION

Lady Shri Ram College for Women, Delhi has long been regarded as a premier higher educational institution for women in the country. The college is counted amongst one of the finest institutions of social sciences, humanities and commerce in the country. It also offers B.Sc. programme in statistics, besides professional courses like Elementary Education and Journalism.

The late Sir Shri Ram in the memory of his wife established the college in 1956. The aim of the establishment of the institution was to provide quality higher education to women.

At present, the college has approximately 2000 students, more than 150 faculty members, administrative and support staff. The 16 departments of the college offer 16 undergraduate and 10 postgraduate programmes. Over the years, the college has earned a reputation for excellence in academics and extra curricular achievement. The college falls under the purview of the Delhi University. At the college, while there is a great emphasis on the traditional aspects the future too is embraced with equal elan. At LSR (as the college is popularly known), there is a greater emphasis on empowering students with professional skills and thereby enabling them to integrate quality with humanity.

The college is administered by a Board of Governors, which represents different strata of the society such as industry, law, journalism, academics and the bureaucracy.

Admissions, Results At Lady Shri Ram College for Women, Delhi

Considered to be one of the finest educational institutions in the country, LSR has strict admission requirements. The aggregate required for all applicants is calculated on the basis of marks secured in English and three other elective subjects. Commerce or economics require students to have studied mathematics in class 12. Students, however, can skip mathematics while calculating the best four total. Different departments have devised specific criteria of their own.


Admission to the MA/ M.Com courses is conducted through the Faculty of Arts/Commerce, University of Delhi. At the post graduation level, the following subjects are offered – English, Hindi, Mathematics, Statistics, Philosophy, Political Science, Psychology, Sanskrit, History and Commerce.
