The Loyola College, Chennai was established in July 1925 and since then it has been a forerunner in quality education in the country. The college is an autonomous institution since 1978. The college, however, has affiliation to the University of Madras. The college has autonomy in framing its courses and adopting methods of teaching and evaluation that it feels are best. The university has framed its courses keeping in mind the need of the students and emphasis has also been laid on ensuring that students concentrate on non-academic activities too.
The main objective of the college is to provide university education to deserving students. Emphasis is on those belonging to the Catholic Christian Community. The college aims to provide quality education to men and women in order to prepare them to be the leaders of tomorrow. Several employment-oriented courses have also been introduced lately. The National Assessment and Accreditation Council has also bestowed the college with the 5-star status.
The college offers a wide choice in subjects, which makes it easier for the students to pursue the course of their choice. Also, in order to make the education system more effective, separate classes for beginners and advance students have been introduced.

Admissions, Results at Loyola College, Chennai
Admission to B.Sc. and all postgraduate courses is through an Entrance Test. The dates of the entrance test are mentioned in the application forms. Candidates applying for MCA programme need to appear for TANSET conducted by the Anna University. Candidates selected provisionally are intimated.
