Presidency College, Kolkata

In the year 1817, the Hindoo College in Kolkata was founded that was later renamed as Presidency College. The college came under the Government's direct control in 1855. The college offers both Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses. This is a NAAC A+ accredited institution and is one of the best known Science colleges in Kolkata.

• The candidate must have passed WBHSE / ISC / CBSE (+2 level) or any other such equivalent examination that is conducted by other Councils/Boards/Universities, to be recognized by the University of Calcutta.

• Physics Hons: Aggregate 70% + 75% in Physics and Math combined
• Economics Hons: Aggregate 65% + 60% in Math or 70% in Business Math
• Statistics Hons: Aggregate 55% + 70% in Math and Statistics / Aggregate 60% + 60% in Math & Statistics
• Physiology Hons: Aggregate 60% with chemistry, physics and bio-science
• Chemistry Hons: Aggregate 70% with physics and math + 70% in Chemistry
• Geology Hons: Aggregate 60% with Chemistry, Physics and pass marks in Math

• History Hons: Aggregate 50%
• English Hons: (WB Board) Aggregate 65% + 50% in English First language. (Other Boards) Aggregate 65% + English 60%

• Applications forms for UG Courses are made available from the day after the WBHS results are declared.
• Application forms can be downloaded from website of the college. It can also be collected on payment of Rs. 15 from the principal’s office.
• Completed application forms must be submitted to the respective departments of the college.
• One candidate can not apply for more than two subjects.
• Last date for forms submission: June 12, 2008.

• A preliminary screening is conducted based on previous academic records, followed by an admission test applicable to all Honours subjects. The college gives equal importance to the candidate’s performance in the admission test and also in the last appeared public exam.
