SSC Combined Graduate Preliminary Examination

SSC Combined Graduate Preliminary Examination is conducted by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC). Every year, the Staff Selection Commission conducts a number of competitive examinations for recruitment to the lower categories of posts in the various governmental offices across India, providing employment opportunities for the Indian youth in the bureaucratic set up of the country. The SSC Combined Graduate Preliminary Examination is held once a year, generally in the month of February for selection of candidates for the SSC Combined Graduate Main Examination which recruits candidates to the posts of Assistants, Inspectors and Sub- Inspectors, Divisional

Accountants, Junior Accountants, Auditors in various governmental agencies like the Railways, Central Vigilance Commission, Central Excise, Income Tax, CBI, Central Police Organizations etc.

Application Details of the SSC Combined Graduate Preliminary Examination



Notifications of the SSC Combined Graduate Preliminary Examination are published every year in the month of October in the Employment News and other leading newspapers of India. Candidates are required to apply in typewritten format as per the proforma printed in the newspapers. Duly completed application forms are to be submitted by the candidate by Registered Post/ Speed Post/ UPC only to the Regional Office of the SSC corresponding to the candidate's examination center. The last date of submission of completed application forms is usually in the month of November. The Preliminary Examination is held in the month of February every year.

Eligibility Criteria for SSC Combined Graduate Preliminary Examination



The minimum educational qualification required for applying to the SSC Combined Graduate Preliminary Examination is a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent of any recognized Indian University. The age limit of candidates applying for the various posts are listed below:

  • For Assistant Grade & Sub Inspectors in CBI, candidates must be aged between 20 and 27 years.
  • For Inspectors of CE / IT & Divisional Accountants/Auditors/ UDCs etc., candidates must be aged between 18 and 27 years.
  • For Sub Inspectors in Central Police Forces, candidates must be aged between 20 and 25 years.
Upper age limit is relaxable for candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribes etc. as per the norms stipulated by the Government of India.

SSC Combined Graduate Preliminary Examination Pattern



The SSC Combined Graduate Preliminary Examination is divided into two stages, each carrying maximum marks of 100 and having duration of 2 hours. The First Section tests the General Intelligence & General Awareness of the candidates while the Second Section is on Arithmetic.

Each section contains a total of 100 questions of objective type, multiple-choice pattern. Questions of the examination are set in both Hindi and English.
