New ISB in the Offing
Fri, 25th July, 2008
New Delhi: The lack of adequate talented human resources in the industry has forced some more business honchos to come together and set up a new Indian School of Business (ISB) in the nothern region of India, reported The Economic Times on 24th of July.
The proposed ISB would be set up in Punjab with the equal contribution of Sunil Mittal (Chairman, Bharati Group), BM Munjal (Hero Group Founder), Analjit Singh (Max India Chairman) and Atul Punj (Punj Lloyd Chairman). The four industrialists have agreed to invest Rs. 50 crore each to set up the new ISB at Mohali. This ISB second in the country would start offering academic courses from the year 2011-12. Health Care Management, Public Policy, Manufacturing Sciences and Infrastructure are four proposed centers of the up coming B-school.
The present ISB at Hyderabd started offering classes from 2001. The Indian School of Business is today associated with Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and the London Business School. Continuing the tradition of offering quality education, the new ISB at Mohali would also try to maintain the reputatin set up by ISB Hyderabad over the years. It can here be noted that ISB Hyderabd is known in the industry for its full time one year Post Graduate Programme, Post Doctoral Research Fellowship Programme, Executive Programmes and for its placements records.
The total cost of the project is estimated to be Rs. 250 crore and ISB board would be responsible for managing the new institute too. So, the new ISB is expected to ease the talent crunch and make Indian industries more productive in the coming years.
