Entrance Date for SPDC 2009-10 Announced

New Delhi:The common entrance test dates for the 2009-10 session of the Scholarships Programme for the Diaspora Children (SPDC) has been announced. It will be held on Sunday, 26th October 2008 at designated centers in the respective countries. The venue and the timings of the examination would be announced soon by the Education Consultants of India. For the uninitiated, Scholarships Programme for the Diaspora Children (SPDC), was introduced by the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs in the academic year 2006-07 for wards of Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) and Non Resident Indians (NRIs). In the year 2009-10, this scholarship would be awarded to 100 candidates, 50 each for NRIs and PIOs for pursuing higher and technical education. In case of non availability of suitable PIO candidates, the unfilled slots can be transferred to NRI candidates.
The common entrance test would be of two hours duration and consist of objective type questions on English Language, Reasoning Ability/Quantitative Aptitude and General Awareness. English would be the medium of the test and list of the shortlisted candidates would be displayed on Ed.CIL website on 28th November 2008. The courses available for the scholarship scheme are Engineering/Architecture/Technology/, Humanities/ Liberal Arts, Commerce, BBA/BBM, Journalism, Hotel Management, Agriculture/ Animal Husbandry, Sciences, Law etc. The original Application form for the SPDC scheme should reach the Project Manager (SPDC), Education Consultants India Limited, P & S Division Ed. CIL House-18-A, Sector-16-A, Noida-201 301, UP (India) on or before 9th September 2008. Educational Consultants India Limited (CIL) is the Nodal Agency for the implementation of this scheme and it will also provide various assistance required before and after the admission.
