Engineering Exam in Bihar
Are you planning to join a reputed engineering college in Bihar to ensure a good studying experience? You have to appear in the Bihar Engineering Entrance Exams to get admission in a highly recognized Engineering college. Bihar Combined Entrance Examination Competitive Examination (BCECE) is the most common test conducted every year to assess the students like you who are eager to take up Engineering as their career.
Eligibility for BCECE Entrance Exam
- In order to sit for the BCECE Entrance Exam, you have to pass the Inter Exam with Chemistry, Physics and Maths as your major subjects.
- If your parents are natives of Bihar or they reside in Bihar, you are eligible to apply for the exam.
- You can also apply for the exam if your parents are employees of Bihar State Government, Central Government or Public Sector Undertakings of Indian Government.
- You have to be between 17-22 years of age on July 1 of the year of admission.
- 14% of the seats are reserved for the S.C, 10% seats for S.T., 10% seats for backward classes and 1% seat is reserved for the armed personnel.
Application procedure
- Application form and prospectus can be collected from the Principal of your College or the Institute between the middle of January and February.
- The application form has to be duly filled and submitted from the From Mid-February to mid-March.
- If you want to purchase the application form by post you have to draw a Demand Draft of Rs.600 in favor of “Controller of Examination BCECE Board" payable at Patna.
- You have to pay Rs.550 if you want to purchase the application form by person.
Other Important Information Regarding BCECE
- The Entrance Test is generally held in the month of May or June.
- The BCEEE comprises three papers of Physics, Chemistry and Maths of an hour’s duration each. The question paper has intermediate standard of questions.
- There is a separate merit list for the students of general and reserved categories.
- If you have scored successfully in the exam, your name will be listed in the state newspapers and colleges.
Reservation of seats
- While 14% of the total seats in the Engineering colleges are reserved for the students belonging to the scheduled caste, 10% of the seats are reserved each for the students of scheduled tribes and other backward classes.
- Two seats in each college of Sindri, Muzaffarpur, Patna and Bhagalpur are reserved for those having a diploma in Engineering.
- Some percentage of seats is also reserved for Central Government nominees and the candidates residing in the Union Territories where there is a dearth of engineering colleges.
After you crack the Combined Engineering Entrance Exam, you can seek admission in any of the following reputed Engineering colleges:
- Bhagalpur College of Engineering, Bhagalpur
- Bihar College of Engineering, Patna
- Bihar Institute of Technology, Sindri, Dhanbad
- Muzaffarpur Institute of Technology, Muzaffarpur
- Regional Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur

- Sale of application: From Mid-February to mid-March
- Last date for submission of complete filled-in application form: Mid-March
- Entrance date, First stage: Mid-April
