Engineering Exam in Kerala

The entrance exam for admission to B.Tech (Agriculture Engineering.) and B.Tech (Dairy Science and Technology), Medical Courses and Architecture courses in Government colleges is conducted through a common entrance examination (CEE). The entrance examination is also known today as Kerala Engineering, Architecture and Medical Entrance Exam. The entrance examination is conducted by the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations, Santhi Nagar, Thiruvanathapuram (Kerala).

Eligibility for Entrance Exam

Candidates who wish to sit for the common entrance examination are required to have passed their higher secondary examination in Kerala or an equivalent recognized examination. Candidates should have attained at least 50% marks in Mathematics separately, and 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics put together. Candidates who have a 3 year Diploma in Engineering and have secured 50% marks in the final diploma examination can also apply for admission.

Candidates who wish to apply for admission to the architecture courses are required to have qualified in the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) with a minimum of 40% marks (35% for SC/ST/SEBC candidates). Candidates who will be appearing for their higher secondary examination or an equivalent examination or a three year engineering diploma examination can also sit for the entrance examinations for that particular year. Prospective candidates who plan to sit for the Kerala engineering, architecture and medical entrance exam are required to satisfy the nativity and age criteria. Relaxation to a certain degree is offered to candidates from socially and educationally backward communities.

Procedure for Application

Prospective candidates can obtain the application form and prospectus for the Kerala engineering entrance exams at selected branches of Canara Bank in Kerala and State Bank of Travancore. Candidates have to pay the cost of application in cash at the sale center. Application forms for the entrance exams are not provided by post or sold directly from the Commissioner for entrance examination.

Important Dates

The engineering entrance exam in Kerala for the year 2009 will be held on 20th April, 2009( paper 1- Physics and Chemistry) and 21th April, 2009( Paper 2- Mathematics).
