IGNOU B.Sc. Nautical Science Entrance Exam, 2008 |
IGNOU B.Sc. Nautical Science Entrance Exam is conducted for the admission of students to the B.Sc. (Nautical Science) programme. The course is offered by the Indira Gandhi National Open University in collaboration with the Directorate General of Shipping, Govt. of India. The main objective behind the functioning of the programme is to develop efficient and well trained man power to join the shipping industry. This entrance examination is also popularly known as OPENNET. It is only held for the non-sponsored candidates. Admission is given to the students twice a year. IGNOU B.Sc. Nautical Science Entrance Exam, 2008 will be held on Sunday, 15th June.
Eligibility Criteria for B.Sc. Nautical Science Entrance Exam:
- Candidates seeking admission need to pass the 10+2 examination with mathematics, chemistry and physics as subjects from a recognized board. They should also have at least 55% marks in aggregate.
- B.Sc. Students with a minimum of 50% marks in their final examination and had Physics as one of the subjects during the course can also apply for admission.
- Students with a degree in B.E/B.Tech are also eligible to apply. Candidates need to have at least 50% marks in English in their 10th or 12th standard examination from any recognized university or board.
- 10+2 pass candidates should be within 20 years of age as on 1.8.08.
- For B.Sc and B.E/B.Tech candidates it is 22 and 24 years respectively. For female candidates the age can be relaxed by 2 years.
- Age relaxation for SC/ST candidates is 5 years.
- Candidates should be medically fit and should have a perfect eye sight as per the norms of the authority.
Selection Procedure
Candidates are selected on the basis of their performance in the All India Entrance Test (OPENNET). Personal interviews are also conducted before admission.
Application Form
- The application form and prospectus can be purchased from the head office of IGNOU, New Delhi against a payment of Rs.100.
- The forms can also be downloaded from the official website of IGNOU.
- The duly filled in application form and demand draft of Rs. 500 should be sent to the Registrar (SR&ED), Block-12, IGNOU, Maidan Garhi, New Delhi-110068. Rs.600 is charged for the downloaded forms.
B.Sc. Nautical Science Entrance Exam Test Pattern:
The entrance test conducted is of three hours duration. The test includes objective type questions on Maths, English, General Science, IQ Aptitude and General Knowledge.
Exam Timing: 10 am to 1pm
