CLAT 2009

With a view to streamline the process of admitting students to the 5-year LLB courses in India and reduce the burden of students of taking different entrance examinations, the seven premier law institutes in India has signed a memorandum of understanding to conduct a Common Law Admission Test from the year 2008. Thus the CLAT 2009 would be the second time that this common law entrance test would be held in India in the line of other common admission tests like the JEE, CAT etc.

In 2008, the CLAT was conducted by the National Law School of India University, Bangalore. In 2009, this test would be held by NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad. It would be held in second week of May, 2009.

Application forms would be issued from last week of January, 2009.
Students need to submit the filled up application forms by second week of April, 2009.

Pattern of CLAT 2009:

The Common Law Admission Test 2009 would be of 2 hours duration, held between 3pm and 5 pm, consisting of objective type questions on English language, general knowledge, basic mathematics and legal and logical reasoning.





Participating Institutes:

The seven institutes that would be admitting students through the Common Law Admission Test are-

  1. National Law School of India University, Bangalore


  2. NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad


  3. National Law Institute University Bhopal


  4. West Bengal National University of Juridicial Sciences, Kolkata


  5. National Law University, Jodhpur


  6. Hidayatullah National Law University Raipur


  7. Gujarat National Law University, Gandhinagar
