With a view to streamline the process of admitting students to the 5-year LLB courses in India and reduce the burden of students of taking different entrance examinations, the seven premier law institutes in India has signed a memorandum of understanding to conduct a Common Law Admission Test from the year 2008. Thus the CLAT 2008 would be the first common law entrance test in India in the line of other common admission tests like the JEE, CAT etc. In 2008 the CLAT would be conducted by the National Law School of India University, Bangalore. It would be held on 11th of May 2008 in 19 centers across the country.
Pattern of CLAT 2008: The Common Law Admission Test 2008 would be of 2 hours duration and consist of objective type questions on English language, general knowledge, basic mathematics and legal and logical reasoning.
