JMET 2010

JMET is the entrance exam for gaining admission to the management degree courses offered by the IITs (Indian Institute of Technology). Some of the IITs use the JMET score in order to shortlist candidates for admissions to the two year full time Postgraduate Degree Program in Management. The Joint Management Entrance Test JMET is conducted by the IITs every year. At present the IITs that offer programs in Management include IIT Kanpur, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Roorkee and IIT Madras.

However, it must be noted that taking the JMET is only the first step in the process of admission to the management courses offered by the IITs. The final selection will be based on the performance of the candidates in each segment of the admission process.

Eligibility for Appearing in JMET

The eligibility criteria for each management program of IITs may vary. Students who meet the criteria laid down by the Management School/Department of each IIT may take the JMET examination. Candidates in their final year of the qualifying degree course can also appear for JMET.


JMET Test Centers

The Joint Management Entrance Test is held in several cities across India. The various cities where JMET 2010 will be conducted are Bangalore, Hyderabad, Hubli, Surathkal, Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune, New Delhi, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh, Guwahati, Patna, Indore, Bhopal, Kanpur, Lucknow, Varanasi, Kharagpur, Bhubaneshwar, Kokata, Raipur, Ranchi, Rourkela, Vishakhapatnam, Chennai, Coimbatore, Ernakulam, Thiruvanthapuram, Tiruchirapalli, Vijaywada, Agra, Bareilly, Jaipur, Meerut, Noida, Patiala and Roorkeeand. The test centers are categorized into IISc Bangalore Zone, IIT Bombay Zone, IIT Delhi Zone, IIT Guwahati Zone, IIT Kanpur Zone, IIT Kharagpur Zone, IIT Madras Zone and IIT Roorkee Zone.

JMET Paper Structure

The JMET exam is of 3 hours duration and will consist of 120 objective or multiple choice questions from verbal communication, logical reasoning, quantitative ability and data interpretation sections. Candidates should also note that for each wrong answer, 25% of the total marks would be deduced. Moreover, the candidates would have to secure at least some minimum marks in each section of the JMET paper.

Date of submission of Online Applicaion: 7 September 2009
Last date of submission of Online Applicaion: 9 October 2009 (6 pm)
Receipt of Completed Aplication Form at IIT Kanpur: 16 October 2009
Date of JMET: 13 Dec 2009 (Sunday)
Announcement of JMET 2009 Result:4 January 2010
