Medical Entrance Exam in West Bengal |
Do you plan to establish your career in the medical science? If you are eager to study in a recognized medical college of West Bengal after your +2, then you have to pass the WBJEE (West Bengal Joint Entrance Exam). This is a state-wide medical and engineering exam conducted every year. Considered among the most competitive entrance exams, JEE is the method to assess the quality of the students and offer seats of the medical colleges to the deserving candidates.
Eligibility for WBJEE
- You should be at least 17 yrs of age on July 1 of the year of admission.
- A pass certificate of the Higher Secondary exam (General/Vocational stream) is required with English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and the 5th subject
- You must have passed both the theory and practical separately.
- Moreover, if you have appeared in qualifying exam you are also eligible.
- If you have passed the B.Sc exam or its equivalent with two subjects like, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Botany, Zoology, Physiology, Life Science, Bio-Physics, Bio-Chemistry are also eligible.
Application Procedure
- The application fee of Rs.150 is to be deposited in the challan form of United Bank of India branch of Calcutta/Howrah.
- You also need to attach a self-addressed stamped (Rs.300) envelope of 23X 13 cm for the dispatch of Admit Card.
- The completed application forms are to be sent to the informed college by the prescribed date.
- The Admit Card is sent to you along with the enrolment number only after the receipt of your application.
- Your exam Centre and date for JEE are mentioned in the Admit Card.
About the WBJEE
The questions are of (10+2) standard set in both English and Bengali. You have the privilege to answer the questions in the language which you have written in your last exam.
The question paper comprises separate sections on Physics, Chemistry and Biological Sciences of 3 hours duration.
Points to be noted
- Only the Indian citizens or the permanent residents of West Bengal are eligible to sit for the exam.
- 15% of the seats are reserved for the SC, 22% for the ST and 6% for the Govt of India/State Govt nominees.
- The selection for MBBS/BDS course is based on your rank in the JEE merit list and preference.

- Last date of submission of the filled JEE Application Form: Mid-January, 2010
