Q: What are the eligibility criteria for pursuing MBBS Courses in India for International students?
Ans: There are quite a good number of institutes in India that offer undergraduate program in medicine and other related areas. For admission to the MBBS courses in India, an International student should fulfill the following requirements as put by the Education Consultants of India –
- Applicants should have secured a minimum of 50 per cent of the aggregate of marks with at least 60 per cent in physics, chemistry and biology and English in the qualifying examination (equivalent to 10 + 2 in India).

A No Objection Certificate from the Department of Health, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, is also required.
- Direct admission of international students to MBBS, BDS or any other undergraduate medical courses offered by government medical institutions is not possible. Admission to these courses is possible only against nominations made by different Ministries or Departments of the Government of India such as Health & Family Welfare (Department of Health), under the Self-Financing Foreign Students' Scheme or various other scholarship schemes.
- However, in private medical colleges recognized by the Medical Council of India, International students can seek admission to undergraduate courses in medicine (MBBS) through Ed.CIL.
