About Education in Goa
Apart from being a major tourist destination, Goa also boasts of its excellent educational infrastructure. The academic scenario of the state is better than several other Indian states. As per the report of 2001 census, the state has a remarkable 82% literacy rate. The literacy rates for males and females are 89% and 76% respectively. The schools present in the villages are run by the Government. Comparatively there is a less demand for private schools in Goa as people are mostly satisfied with the quality of education provided by the Government schools. Most of the schools in Goa is affiliated to the state SSC board. The state education department of Goa prescribes the syllabus for these schools. However, other boards like CBSE and ICSE also run a few schools in Goa.
