About Haryana Education
Haryana is one of the most developed states in India. Situated in the northern part of India, Haryana shares its northern border with Himachal Pradesh and Punjab. Rajasthan lies to the southern and western part of the state. Haryana, a major industrial hub enjoys the 2nd highest per capita income of the nation. Chandigarh is the capital city of the state and a major educational destination. Haryana has undergone a lot of expansions at the field of education in the recent past. The government has launched several schemes and programs for developing the scenario of education in the state. Special importance is given to the spread of primary education and women education in Haryana.

School Education in Haryana
As per the data collected from 2001-02 survey report Haryana had 3,023 high schools 1,918 middle schools, 1,301 senior secondary schools and 11,013 primary schools. One can come across private, government and government aided schools in the state. Haryana Education Board is in charge of the government schools in Haryana. However, students can also take admission in schools run by other education boards like Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) or Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE). Both Hindi and English medium schools operate here in Haryana. Some of the schools in Haryana also teach Punjabi and Urdu.

Higher Education in Haryana
NIT Kurukshetra is one of the most prestigious institutes for technical studies in Haryana. Most of the colleges in the state are affiliated to any of the five universities operating in the state. Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University at Hisar is the single agricultural university of the state. Maharishi Dayanand University at Rohtak, Guru Jambheshwar University of Science & Technology at Hisar, Kurukshetra University at Kurukshetra and Chaudhary Devi Lal University at Sirsa are the other main universities of the region. Students willing to pursue their higher education in dairy science may join the National Dairy Research Institute at Karnal. One can also come across medical and management colleges in Haryana. In addition, there are architecture colleges, ayurvedic colleges, dental colleges, engineering colleges, hotel management colleges, law colleges, nursing colleges, pharmacy, veterinary and physiotherapy colleges.
