Introduction:
Nalanda Digital Library, NIT Calicut is an integral constituent body of National Institute of Technology Calicut, Kerala and started functioning as the largest digital library of India since 1999.It renders its undistinguished services to about 3000 users from all walks of life including undergraduate, post graduate students and research scholars of different branches of Engineering and Faculty and Staff from various departments of the institute and Neighboring Institutions. The Library is one of the most modern versions of its genre manifested with traditional holdings, back volume collections, digital resources, electronic databases etc. The Library is one of the best technical repositories in the country with an overriding stock of valuable books, journals, reports and CD ROM Databases.

The different categories available are-General books, Text Books, Reserved Books (SC/ST), Book Bank, Reference Books, Association Books, Pamphlets, WBB (New Book Bank), WGB (General Books), WRR (Reference Books), Journals which include Indian and Foreign language, News Paper, Bound Volumes since 1965 17,769, online Journals and

- Membership at Nalanda Digital Library, NIT Calicut :
Membership (both Institutional and Individual) is rendered but with sufficient and valid reasons for their studies/ researches/ development. Once the request is sanctioned, a subscription fees needs to be paid at the institute account counter in cash or DD in favor of the Director, NIT Calicut. On receipt of the fees, membership is activated by issuing temporary Library Card/ login. The charge for Institutional membership with maximum 3 simultaneous users/logins for Academic/Research is Rs.3000 while for Industry usage it is Rs.5000 valid for a period of 6 months. In case of Individual membership (with 1 login) it is Rs.1000 for a period of 1 month and Rs.100 for 3 days.

It remains open from Monday to Saturday from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. The library is closed on Central Government holidays and festivals.
