Saraswata Niketanam, Vetapalem, Andhra Pradesh is a unique library with a prolific collection in Telugu language making it very different from the typical mill on the run libraries in India. Dedicated for over 8 decades particularly in the emancipation of Telugu literature as well as the language holistically is a giant repository, which has the collections in Telugu probably unavailable anywhere else in the country. The library is located in Vetapalem, a lesser-known place in the district of Prakasam in Andhra Pradesh along the eastern sea coastline in Tenali Madras Railway line.
Unlike the many public libraries in the country maintained by the Government of India, the Saraswata Niketanam, Vetapalem, Andhra Pradesh is a private library up kept by the family of the Late V.V Shreshti who is the reputed founder of the Institution.
The library was fortunate to have the foundation stone laid down by Mahatma Gandhi in 1929.The library which was at the epicenter of the national movement of freedom in Andhra Pradesh has earned its blessings from several eminent Indians including Dr.Rajendra Prasad, the first president of India. Apart from the freedom movement the library also played instrumental roles in the movements pertaining to social welfare and educational upheaval.

- Collection at Saraswata Niketanam, Vetapalem, Andhra Pradesh :The library has a colossal collection in all forms in the field of Telugu literature and language. It is supposed to be the ultimate resort in case of Telugu books. Apart from that the library also has a good collection of other books in different languages including English, other south Indian languages.etc. Apart from books there are periodicals, manuscripts, newspaper clippings dating back to 1909 that have attracted research scholars from far and wide. The library boasts of a collection figuring to more than 75000 in numbers out of which most are rare.
- Conservation of books in Saraswata Niketanam, Vetapalem, Andhra Pradesh :Being one of the oldest libraries in India and having witnessed several historic movements the library has conservation as one of its most challenging chores. Although the library does not enjoy Government funding, that has not been a hindrance in the field of conservation, which happens to be one of the prime activities of the library. Apart from cataloging, arranging and revamping the library is committed in preserving age-old paper material from disintegrating.
- Membership at Saraswata Niketanam, Vetapalem, Andhra Pradesh : Although the library is a private owned institution since ages, it has meted out its help to research scholars from far and wide. The library is presently a spacious two-storied building providing ample space for reading purposes. Apart from the reading room facilities it also renders memberships to both local and outstation readers. However it charges a nominal subscription from its members. The borrowing facility is available excepting for the very rare and irreplaceable books. The library is open from 10 am -7 pm on all weekdays excepting holidays.
