About: Bhaktivedanta Gurukula and International School, UP was founded in the year 1976. Srila A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada is the Founder of the school; he is also the Acharya-Founder of ISKCON – International Society for Krishna Consciousness. This school is based on Gurukula system of education, which is an age-old Indian tradition. The school adopts every modern means for providing quality education, at par with international standards. Bhaktivedanta Gurukula and International School, UP has earned a name among the residential schools in India.

Co-curricular activities:

Students take part in various co-curricular activities like drama, music- harmonium, mridangam and vocals, art -competitions, class activities and projects.

They also participate in various community services like cleaning the surrounding areas in Vrindaban and looking after cows.

Sports:

Football, volleyball, table tennis, basketball, swimming, cricket and athletics are some of the sports activities the students are always interested in.

Students even participate in different national, state and district level competitions.

Ashram activities and routine:

The students are entrusted with an 'ashram curriculum' in which the students are taught Vaishnava texts including Bhagavad Gita. They impart Krishna consciousness in every student.

The practice of bhaklti yoga, an ancient tradition, develops and nourishes devotional feelings for Lord Krishna and spirituality as a whole.

Students are trained in kirtan, bhajans, chanting 'japa', recitation of 'sanskrit Shlokas and regular participation in various temple activities.

Students religiously take part in Krishna-Blaram Mandir's activities. 'Parikramas' , 'harinams', 'darshans' are some of the things they perform while going around the holy place – Vrindavan. They even take part in various planning programs related with festivals, celebrations and 'Ekadasi'.

In the curriculum, students even study 'Shastras' on a regular basis. They attend seminars and lectures given by 'sannyasis' and devotees from different corners of the world. They are taught about ways in which they can maintain marriages, healthy food habits, information about alcohol, drugs, media and some others.

Students live a very simple Ashram life but values of love, compassion, humanity, service, cleanliness and honesty are instilled within them.

Residential complex:

This part of the school houses the hostel where students are given good facilities and clean environment.

Around 2 or 6 students live in each of the rooms, which have 'bunk bed'.

They are even provided with hot or cold bathing water, purified drinking water, personal study corners and a proper dining hall.

Parents are allowed to visit their children on national holidays and Sundays.

Management: The Director/Principal of the school for the last 17 years is Ananda Vrindavaneshwari Devi Dasi. Vinod Bihari Das is the vice Principal and he hails from Ukraine and has been associated with this school since 1993.

Admission process: For admission, students are judged on the basis of their merit and interview. They should be fluent in English if they are above 9 years of age. There is an admission test held, in which the students are tested in general subjects. In Class X and XII, there are no admissions granted.

One can avail the online registration form by downloading from the home site. This should be duly filled in and sent along with the fee of Rs.400. Documents that should be submitted during admission are:
  • Proof of birth- birth certificate
  • Passport sized photograph- 2
  • Result of the previous year
  • Transfer certificate
Fee structure:
  • For residential students the admission fee is Rs. 5000 and the same is the fees for the day scholar as well.

  • Refundable Imprest deposit for the residential student is Rs.5000 and for day scholar is Rs.2000.

  • Security deposit is Rs. 20000 for residential student and Rs. 5000 for day scholar. This fee is also refundable.

  • Annual fee for the residential student is Rs. 76000 and it is between Rs.17500 and Rs.19500 for day scholars. This is the fee structure for 2007-08. For more detailed information, school authorities may be contacted.
