About: Chail Military School in Himachal Pradesh is one of the major schools in Himachal Pradesh. This residential school is situated in the summer palaces of Maharajah of Patiala. It came into being just after the World War I. King George V, the then Prince of Wales, laid the foundation stone of this school in the year 1922. The school finally stated functioning in the year 1925. The institution was established with the sole mission of providing education to the children of JCOs, Ors and NCOs free of cost.

Admission process: For admission in the Chail Military School in Himachal Pradesh, the candidates aged 10 to 12 are supposed to sit in CET exam for all Military schools. The written exam is followed by interview. After the interview, a merit list is brought out by the school.
Scholarship programs: 15% of the children of service officers are entitled to merit scholarships. The scholarships are given on the basis of a test. The Army Headquarters conducts the scholarship test.
Fee structure: The wards of the civilians have to pay Rs. 12000/- per annum. The children of the army officers have to deposit Rs 3800/- to Rs 6000/- per annum, according to the rank of their father. The wards of JCOs and ORs have to pay Rs. 35/- to Rs. 150/- every month depending on the post of their father. The children of the school staffs also study in this school. These children are supposed to pay Rs.10 as their school fee.
