About:
The Kodaikanal International School was established in the year 1901. It is an American boarding school, which was set up for the children of missionaries in India. In the year 1976, the Kodaikanal International School was the first International school in India to introduce the International Baccalaureate Diploma program. This is also one of the residential schools in India.
The students and staff are from almost 30 different nations. The well-trained staffs have devoted their service to this school. In 2001, Kodaikanal International School celebrated its golden jubilee. The Kodaikanal International School or KIS is said to have one of the most beautiful campuses in India, which overlooks the large man made lake. The school has three campuses, Highclerc, which is for the High School and the Middle Schools, Ganga Campus for the Elementary School and the other one is the Wilderness Campus.

Hostel facilities: Kodaikanal International School is known for its multicultural boarding school for the students aged 4-19.

The school building is divided into two academic campuses on which both residential and tuition facilities are provided.
The dormitories of girls from grade 6 to 12 are located on the main campus while the dormitories for the senior boys from the graded 9 to 12 are located at a walking distance from the school from either campus.
The school has several compounds, which the dormitories and staff accommodation.
Presently there are 14 student dormitories, which are situated around the school campus and on hills bordering Kodaikanal.
The high school students live in dorms in and around Kodaikanal, which have been named as Kennedy, Upper Boyer, Lower Boyer, Solvick, Wissy for girls and the Bartlett West, Bartlett East, Claverack, Pendryn, Lochend which are for the boys.

The school hostel has a tight security. All entrances inside the school premises are controlled by campus security guards. The visitors are required to sign a register and are given a pass to enter the campus only if their purpose is legitimate enough.
Rules
Traveling inside the campus is done in groups or under supervision of school authorities or in school vehicles.
The students must be in dorms by 7:15pm from Sunday to Thursday. The movement in campus for is restricted.
But the students can move out twice on the weekends but only with a pass.
The senior students are given some freedom in moving out of the campus.
Management: The current principal is Dr. Geofrey Fisher. The school is managed under his guidance. He looks into the administration of the school with the help of his staff.
Admission process: The students are requested to sit for an assessment exam in order to gain admission. Based upon this results, the students are granted admission. The usual language of instruction is English but ESL support is also provided. In some cases the students are taught in their mother-tongue. Due to the modern methods of teaching, many students from all over the world seek admission here. Most graduates from this school go for University level studies around the world
KIS Admissions
The candidates who seek admission at this college are from various economic and cultural backgrounds. They have a positive attitude and a willingness to work independently. The admission is open to all qualified students starting from Preschool to Grade 12. But the children below Grade 4 are not granted admission into boarding. Most of the New students are accepted at the start of each each semester. Later the students of years 6, 9 and 11 are also given preferences.
There are two semesters at Kodaikanal International School. The first semester begins in mid-July and the second semester begins in January. The winter vacation starts from November till January and the summer vacation starts from May till the mid July.

Scholarship programs:
KIS is known for its outstanding performances by its students for over 30 years in International Baccalaureate, SAT and ACT examinations. Most of the students graduating from this school apply for college and universities around the world. The school gives specific consideration to the refugees and war victims , victims of terrorism or other problems for which the child is unable to pay his or her fees. The financial aid is available to the suitable and qualified students from Grade 5. Presently only 10% of the student body gets some kind of financial support from the institution.

Fee structure: The fees of this school range from US$6000-7500 per term. There are two terms each year - from July to November and from January to May. The fee structure is set by the Council of Directors and is annually reviewed. Any change in the fee structure is notified in advance to all parents / guardians before 31st December of the previous academic year.
Currently there are three fee schedules in the school:
Firstly the KIS Local Fee Schedule is applicable to the students whose parents are the citizens of countries like India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan, Sri Lanka or Pakistan and have been employed in the respective country and are earning in the local currency.
The KIS Foreign Fee Schedule is applicable to students whose parents are employed in the countries which are mentioned above and is not a citizen of these countries but is employed and living within these countries.
Thirdly the KIS Foreign Consolidated Fee Schedule is applicable to students whose parents are entitled for reimbursement of 50% and above for these fees from his employer
KIS Boutique:
The houses a small boutique located in the KIS Community Office (KISCO) which is by Penny Ohana, who has been appointed as Assistant Corporate Services Assistant. The students can get T-shirts, sweat shirts, cards, books and other products which are required to cater to the needs of KIS students, visitors and alumni. In near future there are plans to make online facilities for the KIS boutique.
KIS Online Campus:
In order to facilitate communication with parents, the school has an official website where individual students performance and parent account status can be reviewed. This website is known as KIS Online Campus and can only be accessed through the http://online.kis.in. The designated User ID and passwords are given to each student. This feature of the KIS keeps the parents up to date about the happenings in the school.
