Run by National Spiritual Assembly of the Bahais of India the New Era High School, Maharashtra aims to inculcate a strong sense of spirituality, morality and social consciousness into its students. Hostel Facilities:
  1. Dormitories:

    The school houses 2 dormitories for girls and 6 for boys. About 217 girls can accommodate in each of the Muhajir and Fernwood dorm. Both of the dormitories have separate spaces for indoor and outdoor recreation, gatherings and games. The boy’s dormitories are home to 500 boys approximately.

    All the dormitories are equipped with facilities like solar water heating, external and internal intercom. Besides, all of them are connected with the Audio- Visual room of the school. English and Hindi movies are played during the weekends. They can also watch the sporting events such as football and cricket.

  2. Health and Hygiene:

    The school is equally careful about health and hygiene of its students. It arranges for non- vegetarian and vegetarian dinning halls that have large seating capacity. In both of the canteens there are separate serving lines, washing and staff areas. Students can have their medical check ups at the Health Center and the local hospital with which the school has an agreement. A full- time doctor and a nurse are always present in the health center. Besides, at 5.30 pm, a doctor visits the center regularly. Pupils are provided with eye and dental examinations twice in a year.

  3. Other facilities to the residential students:

    The hostel has sufficient water storage for the students. It has water purification plant, 3 bore wells, 3 covered wells and the water storage tanks of the dormitories which supply water throughout the day. The school has also 3 generators that are able to provide electricity on power cuts.

    Activities of New Era High School of Maharashtra:

  4. Value Education System: The school operates 3 programs for its Value Education. Each of the programs is for the welfare of the students. Through the Family Learning Program the school tries to instill the spiritual and social values of the students while the Moral Education means to make the pupils responsible citizens. Students are also educated from the Bahai Perspective which is one of the features of the Value education.

  5. Co-curricular activities: To develop the all round personality of a child the school undertakes several extra- curricular activities. Arts classes are meant to raise the aesthetic and spiritual awareness in the students. Efficient teachers help the students to gain expertise in modern and traditional art. They are encouraged to enhance their perceptual skills along with art of sculpturing, painting and drawing.

    At every level there are different curriculums for arts. To judge and acclaim the skills of the students the school has tied up with the Maharashtra Government Elementary and Intermediate Art Exams. Pupils of VIII, IX and X standard can opt for the 4 month course that promotes their artistic and creative talents. After the completion of this course, students get advantage in admission in architectural and engineering colleges.

    Computer education gets priority in the school. Students are provided with well- equipped computer labs and well- trained faculties. There are separate labs and curriculum for the primary and secondary students.

    The school also arranges for different vocational trainings. Students from class V onwards are given scopes to enhance their skills in various fields such as Knitting, Health Care, Emboss Painting, Horticulture, GIMP Photo Editing and Vector Drawing, Web Designing, Photography, Screen Printing, Welding and Fabrication, Cooking, Baking and Confectionery, Basic Electronics, Basic Electricity, Candle Making, Toy Making, Ceramic Painting and Glass Painting.

  6. Sports: The school offers enough facilities for different types of indoor and outdoor games. Students have shown their skills in several sports competitions.

  7. Football: The Girls Football teams were the winners in Zonal and District level meets. They were also the State Runners- up. Some of the players were also selected for the Maharashtra team. The Boys team also participated in several events and bagged prestigious positions.

  8. Swimming: In the district swimming competition Farzeen Khan and Sama Ankolkar bagged positions.

  9. Carrom and Chess: In PSSA and District Carrom Tournament both the Boys and Girls teams were the runners- up while the District Chess tournament was won by the students of this school.

  10. Basketball: The basketball team participated in the CBSE cluster IX Basketball Tournament. They gained the 3rd place and were selected to take part in the West Zonal Tournament.

  11. Badminton: Badminton team of this school was the champion of the District tournament for both Boys and Girls.

  12. Table Tennis: Aniket Thormote was chosen for the trials of State meet when he took part in the District Table Tennis Tournament.

  13. Achievements: In CBSE 2007 the school created a record. All the students passed with high marks and some gained distinction that marks the prominence of the institution among the residential schools in India. 48 students passed with distinction securing above 75% while 43 of them got First and Second class.

Management: Dr. A. H. Mehrassa is the principal of the school who have important role to play in the management of the school.

Admission process:

Admission is done from class I to IX. The school follows the IGCSE along with the CBSE curriculum. After standard VIII students can opt for any of the 2 curriculum. Applicants have to pay Rs. 2000 in pay orders and Demand Drafts for prospectus kit and Entrance fees. They have to clear an entrance examination to get admission. Applicants should submit the duly filled application forms as quickly as possible as admission is done on first come first served basis.

Both the Application Forms and the Prospectus are given to the applicants after mid of January. You can collect the form from the School Office or you can also get it by mail on sending your mailing address. Students can even collect the prospectus and the admission form when they will come for the Entrance test.
