About: The foundations for Sawan Public School was laid by the S.J. Jindal Trust in 1974. This is one of the many residential schools in India. The management of the school was handed over to Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan on April 2003. Hence forth this boarding school in India came to be known as Bhavan's Sawan Public School.

Aims : To instill the principles of trust, care and ethical conduct is the main aim of the school. Making the students aware of their social duties and responsibilities is of primary importantance.

Mission : To develop responsible and committed citizens who will make the country proud.

Hostels :
  • According to the four houses of the school students are accommodated respectively in separate living quarters.
  • A matron and an attendant supervises the workings of the hostels.

  • There are common rooms, where there is a television and a music system.

Management:
  • The school was initially managed by the S.J. Jindal Trust. The school was founded by this trust.
  • In 1993 the reins of management was handed over to Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan.
  • The principal of the school is Mr. C.K. Sharma.
Admission process: Bhavan's Sawan Public School is entirely residential and there is no provision for day schooling. The wards of staff members are only allowed as non- boarding students.

Admission form :
  • For getting the admission form you can either submit a bank draft worth Rs 100 drawn in favor of the principal, Bhavan's Sawan Public School.
  • Admission forms can also be downloaded, filled and submitted along with Rs 100.
Admission test : An entrance examination is held in January. Successful candidates are called for an interview, which is followed by a medical check – up. For non – resident students the exam is conducted at the closest Indian High Commission Embassy. The compulsory subjects for admission test are :
  • Maths
  • English
  • Hindi
Documents to be furnished at the time of admission are :
  1. Birth Certificate, issued by the municipality or the corporation.
  2. Transfer certificate from previous school. This needs to be attested by the district education officer or inspector of school.
Age limit : For admission to class IV the student must be between 8 and 9 years of age. Age proof needs to be submitted along with the the registration form.
Expulsion : A students stands to get expelled from the school if he is found guilty of any of the following offenses :
  • Cheating during examinations
  • Not adhering to the rules and regulations of the school
  • Misconduct
  • Using profanities
  • Bullying or teasing fellow students
  • Consuming non – vegetarian food
Non – payment of school bills may also result in the expulsion of a student.

Scholarship programs: The following scholarships are granted by the school :
  • Scholarships are granted to meritorious students coming from underprivileged backgrounds. A request has to be forwarded to the principal for the same, two months before the academic session ends.
  • Siblings dependent on same parents each gets a concession of Rs200 on the tuition fees. The eldest, however is not eligible for this concession.
  • A 50% concession is given to students securing 85% and above in the class X board examinations.
  • A concession of Rs 500 is granted to sons of serving defense personnels, widows, men serving the country and invalids.
Fee structure: Rs 200 is required to be paid at the time of admission, this is the non- refundable admission fee. Rs 500 needs to be paid as caution money, this is refundable. The annual fee structure for different classes are listed below :

Science students of class XI and XII have to pay Rs2,200 as science fee.

Hostel fee : The registration fee is Rs1,000 and the caution money payable is 4,500. The latter is refundable but the former is non – refundable. The annual boarding fee structure is :
