The Indian Council of Historical Research (ICHR) that came into existence in 1972 is an independent organization, which is a society under the Indian Societies Registration Act, 1860. Eligibility Criteria for the ICHR Senior Research Fellowship:
The Senior Research Fellowship granted by the Indian Council of Historical Research is generally provided to:
- Senior scholars who have earned a name for themselves through publication of research papers.
Duration of the ICHR Senior Research Fellowship:
The Indian Council of Historical Research Senior Fellowships are awarded for a maximum period of 2 years which can be extended by another 1 year in certain exceptional cases.
Application Procedure:
The printed application form, published along with the notification, should be submitted, complete in all respects to the Indian Council of Historical Research 35, Ferozeshah Road, New Delhi 110001, within the prescribed date. Applications should be routed through the university, college or institute where the applicant is employed. The application should be accompanied by the following documents:

Value of Scholarships:
A monthly allowance of Rs.8, 000/- along with a yearly contingency allowance of Rs.36, 000 /- is awarded as ICHR Senior Research Fellowship.
