The Homi Bhabha Center for Science Education Scholarships is a scholarship program for those post graduate science students or students in their last and final year of post graduation who wish to carry out research work in related fields of scientific studies.
The Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE) is part of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai. HBCSE aims to bring about all round improvement in the field of Science and Mathematics by transcending new boundaries of research and studies.
This national center propagates the study of science and mathematics right from the time a child enters the boundaries of his school till the time he graduates into a matured scientist or mathematician. Research and Development in Science and Mathematics forms an important agenda in HBCSE’s goal to achieve excellence these fields of study. The HBCSE is a thirty-year-old center, which has served India with distinction since its inception.
The fields of study in which scholarships are offered are:
- Physical Science
- Chemical Science
- Biological Science
- Earth Sciences
- Mathematics
- Statistics
- Computer Science
Eligibility Criteria for the Homi Bhabha Center for Science Education Scholarships:
- Candidates should be a post graduate in any of the subjects mentioned above or in the final year of post graduation
- Candidates should have secured a good percentage of marks in all the previous examinations
Value of Scholarships
- Selected candidates are provided with a monthly scholarship grant of Rs.8, 000. This amount of scholarship is increased to Rs.9, 500 after the candidate successfully registers for his Ph.D. degree
- The yearly contingency grant under the scholarship is Rs.10, 000.
- Yearly tuition fees up to an amount of Rs.4, 000 is also covered under the scholarship
