Introduction:
The Indian Council of Historical Research Doctoral Fellowships for Foreign Nationals is a Fellowship awarded by the Indian Council of Historical Research to deserving scholars who are foreign nationals. The Indian Council of Historical Research (ICHR) is an independent organization, which is a society under the Indian Societies Registration Act, 1860. ICHR came into existence in the year 1972.
The ICHR aims at the following:

- Providing fellowships and funds to teachers in colleges, universities and research organizations of repute. It also assists senior teachers who require financial assistance
- Assembling historians by providing funds for symposiums, seminars, and workshops
- Providing financial assistance for seminars, congress proceedings and journals so that the benefits of these research work reach the scholars
- Publication of a journal by the name of Indian Historical Review, which comes out twice a year
- Maintenance of an ever growing Library–cum-Documentation Center for research scholars
- Running of two regional centers in Guwahati and Bangalore
Eligibility:
The Doctoral Fellowships for Foreign Nationals, granted by the Indian Council of Historical Research, are meant for those who have not been debarred from being granted scholarships under the other schemes
Duration :
The Indian Council of Historical Research Doctoral Fellowships for Foreign Nationals are awarded to foreign nationals for a maximum period of 1 year which is not normally extended beyond this period.

The printed application form, published along with the notification, should be submitted, complete in all respects to the Indian Council of Historical Research 35, Ferozeshah Road, New Delhi 110001, within the prescribed date.
