Introduction:
The Inlaks Scholarships are provided by the Inlaks Foundation, a Charitable Trust registered in Liechtenstein, a picturesque country located between Austria and Switzerland, in the continent of Europe. It is an approved charitable organization under the Charity Commissioners of the United Kingdom. It became a Tax Exempt Private Operating Foundation in USA in the year 1983.
A Board of Trustees looks after the management of the Inlaks Foundation, headed by the Director, who is also a Trustee and Chief Executive of the Foundation. The Chief Executive is aided and assisted by the Executive Committee of the Inlaks Foundation.
The Inlaks Foundation Scholarships are offered under the following categories:
- Scholarships Abroad
- Scholarships in India
- Inlaks Fabrica Scholarship
The Inlaks Scholarships Abroad include Courses at Universities & Specific Programs Proposed by the Candidate
Courses at Universities:
- Awards for a maximum period of 2 years at reputed institutes in USA, Europe and the United Kingdom
- Awards for obtaining degrees in all subjects other than Engineering, Computer Sciences, post graduation in Public Health, English Literature, Indian
- History, Urban Design and Philosophy
Eligibility Criteria for Inlaks Foundation Scholarships:
- All Resident Indian citizens, either male or female, possessing a degree from a university which has earned due recognition
- Should be enrolled in an institution in the desired course of study before making the application for scholarship.
- Candidates should be below 30 years of age as on the 1st of July in the year of application
- Students who have not been abroad for studies earlier will be preferred
- Candidates already studying abroad are not eligible
- Applications from employed youth are preferred
- Scholarships are not granted to students who are required to make field trips to India during the period of study
Duration of the Inlaks Foundation Scholarships:
The Inlaks Foundation Scholarships are normally provided for a maximum period of 2 years.
Value of Scholarships :
- Provides for tuition fees
- Cost of living expenses as per normal standards
- One way travel grant
- For courses, the duration of which is more than 2 years, financial assistance should be taken from other sources
Specific Programs Proposed by Candidates include:
- Grants for carrying out research, training or advancement in professional career either personally or through an institution
- Applicants should furnish complete details of the programs / course of study which they wish to pursue
- Applicants should also furnish details about their schedule, budget and copy of their agreement with the institute in which they plan to study.
Applications Procedure:
- Available between the 10th of January to the 15th of April for a particular year from the address of the Inlaks Foundation given below
- All applications should reach the office of the Inlaks Foundation Delhi by 15th April.
- Documentary proof of applicant’s admission to a university with complete particulars of the expenses to be incurred by the applicant for the course
- Self-addressed stamped envelope
- Applicants for scholarships in architecture, fine arts and applied arts are required to submit 12 color transparencies of their most recent creative work. Applicants for Film, Dance and Acting should submit cassettes or CD’s. Applicants for music scholarships should send magnetic tapes or scripts of their most recent performances.
- Copies of testimonials need not be sent with the application form.
Interviews:
- The most promising candidates are called for interviews by the Committee of the Inlaks Foundation
- Interviews will be conducted in India and all candidates must be available
- Interviews are conducted in 2 stages: Preliminary and Final
- Applicants called for interviews must pay for their travel and accommodation
- Applicants who do not receive intimations from the Inlaks Foundation within the 1st of June, have not been considered for the scholarships.
The Inlaks Fabrica Scholarships: Inlaks Fabrica Scholarships are awarded for Art, Design and Communication.
This scholarship is given by Inlaks Foundation in association with Fabrica. Fabrica is the independent research center of Benetton in Trevisco, near Venice, Italy. The joint scholarship is for a period of 1 year.
The following are the important features of the Fabrica Scholarships:
- Available to graduate students in graphics, illustration, photography, design video, music, interactive and creative writing.
- Available to students below the age of 25
- Applicants should be Resident Indians living in India as on the date of the application
- Project based training
- Scholars to conduct research work individually or in a team
- Supervision by eminent professionals and artists
- 1 year scholarship which can start any time within 9 months from selection
- Scholarship covers traveling expense, tuition fees and other expenses
