Introduction:

The Nehru Centenary British Fellowships from the External Scholarship Division, MHRD are offered by the British Government in collaboration with the External Scholarship Division, Ministry of Human Resource and Development.
Under this scholarship scheme, students are sent to the United Kingdom to pursue higher studies or conduct research in the following fields of study:

  • Energy Conservation
  • Small Business Development
  • English Language
  • Economics
  • International Relations
Eligibility:

The following are the eligibility criterion for the Nehru Centenary British Fellowships/ Awards.
  • Candidates should not be more than 34 years of age. However, in case of SC/ST candidates, an age limit of 36 years is acceptable
  • Candidates should have a consistently good academic record with post graduation in the relevant field of study
  • Candidates should be Indian nationals resident in India at the time of applying for the scholarship
Additional requirements:
  • Candidates should stay in India for 2 years in succession after return from the United Kingdom
  • Candidates should have a fair degree of knowledge in the geography, culture and heritage of the United Kingdom.
Duration :

Fifteen (15) Nehru Centenary British Fellowships are offered for a period of 3 years

Value of Scholarship

Full financial assistance under the fellowship scheme are provided by the British Government and covers the following
  • Tuition fees
  • Staying and living expenses
  • International air fare
Application:

Typed applications on plain paper along with requisite documents should be sent to Director (Scholarship), Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department. Of Education, External Scholarship, within the fixed date:

Notification : The notification is part of the General Information Notification published every year during the month of December.
