Introduction:
The National Institute of Science Communication And Information Resources (NISCAIR) Scholarship was instituted by the NISCAIR for Research Associateship in Information Science. NISCAIR is a center at the all India level for allotting ISSN numbers for scientific journals and periodicals, published in India. NISCAIR is a global body, which shares scientific information with a large number of institutions spread across more than 40 countries of the world.
The NTPC Scholarships or the National Thermal Power Corporation Scholarships were started with the initiative of National Thermal Power Corporation, one of India’s biggest public sector enterprises engaged in power generation and construction of thermal power projects. These scholarships are provided to students belonging to the scheduled castes and scheduled tribes and pursuing diploma courses in engineering from institutes which have earned due recognition for themselves.
Eligibility Criteria for the NTPC Scholarships:
The eligibility criteria for applying for the NTPC Scholarships are:
- Candidates are required to pass the first year examination of full time Electrical or Electronics or Instrumentation or Mechanical or Civil
- Engineering diploma courses.
- Candidates should necessarily belong to scheduled castes and scheduled tribes and should have a good academic background
- Candidates should not have received any other grant or scholarship or monetary assistance whatsoever from anywhere else
- Candidates should be residents of either Delhi or Himachal Pradesh or Jammu Kashmir or Haryana or Punjab or Chandigarh or Rajasthan
Duration of Scholarships :
- The scholarship period is from the second year of the course till its completion
- The scholarships are available all the year round
- The number of scholarships depend entirely on the discretion of the management
Value of Scholarships :
- The amount of NTPC Scholarships are for a maximum amount of Rs.600/- per month
- The scholarships remain valid as long the students perform well and remain disciplined during their course of study
Scope for Employment in NTPC :
Candidates, who have been successful in acquiring a scholarship from NTPC, are required to appear for a selection test for filling up the post of Diploma Trainees, in case there are vacancies. On appointment as Diploma Trainees, candidates will be given training for a year during which a stipend amount will be paid to them as per official rules and regulations. In case a candidate is able to complete the training successfully, he will be given a suitable appointment and asked to be in employment with NTPC for at least 3 years from the date of appointment.

- Application form duly typed and bearing the candidate’s signature and all relevant information as is normally required
- Recent photograph bearing necessary attestation
