Introduction:
The Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan Scholarships are granted by the Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan (RSS) an independent body registered as a society under the Societies Registration Act, 1860. The Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan receives full financial assistance from the Indian Government and assists the Ministry of Human Resource Development in charting out plans and programs for the spread of the Sanskrit language in India.
The Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan has become the most important body in India for enforcing the suggestions made by the Sanskrit Commission, established by the Ministry of Education, in 1956.It aims to spread knowledge about the rich cultural and social aspects of India handed down to us by our ancestors, through the Sanskrit language. The Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan became a Deemed University in May, 2002.
Since it has been felt by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, that no Indian language can prosper without receiving proper support from the Sanskrit language, the Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan ensures that extensive research and studies are carried out on the subject on an all India basis.
Among other activities undertaken by the Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, disseminating knowledge about the Sanskrit language and funding of research projects is very important.
The academic wing of the Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, headed by the Deputy Director Academics, is responsible for grant of scholarships to deserving students. Among its other functions are framing of syllabi and organizing the process of admission of students into Vidyapeethas.
There are 2 categories of scholarships granted by the RSS to candidates. Under the first category, scholarships are awarded to the students enrolled in the Vidyapeethas. The fund for these scholarships is allotted from provisions made in the annual financial budgets of each of these Vidyapeethas.
The second category of scholarship is granted under the following heads:
- Research Scholarships for students who are enrolled in Pathshalas
- Post Matriculation Scholarships to students for taking up B.A., M.A. and Ph.D courses in conventional subjects.
Applications in the proforma formulated by the RSS should be sent to the Vice-Chancellor at the following address along with duly attested copies of mark sheets of relevant examinations. The applications should be sent through the Head of the institution or the Registrar of the University.
