Army Public School

INTRODUCTION

Post independence, the need for providing quality education to the children of Army personnel was increasingly felt. This led to the establishment of a small school at Maulana Azad Road Officers Hostel in Delhi in May 1953. The school was called Maulana Azad Road Children’s School (MARCS). The school shifted to where it is today in 1970 and was renamed Defense Services Public School. Later, on 15 July 1976 the school was named, The Army Public School.
Army Public School is counted amongst one of the leading educational institutions in Delhi. The institution’s commitment to innovative approaches in education stands it apart. With its motto ‘Learn To Obey’, the school emphasizes its dedication towards personality and character development.

Emphasis is also on providing an all round education to the children of army personnel, and in the process ensuring proper grooming of the students.

The school is a part of the family of 117 schools that are being managed and run by the Army Welfare Education Society.

The philosophy of no rank-consciousness, no religion, no politics, and no influence of money is what provides the school a unique character of its own and goes on to prove its dedication towards ensuring integrity, freedom of thought, and equal opportunity to all. The management of the schools is in the hands of the Army Welfare Education Society. The General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Head Quarters, Western Command is the Patron of the school while the General Officer Commanding, HQ Delhi Area is the Chairman of the school.
