Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas

Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas cater to the educational needs of the talented students generally belonging to the rural areas of the nation. Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, branchild of P.V. Narasimha Rao was established first in the year 1985. It was formerly known as Navodaya Vidyalaya. You can come across Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas everywhere in the nation, except in the state of Tamil Nadu. Approximately there are five hundred and fifty seven Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas operating in India. The chain of schools is managed and administered by the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti. It is an autonomous institution functioning under the Ministry of Human Resource Development.

Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Admission
CBSE conducts an All India Level Entrance Exam every year to select talented candidates for these schools. Students selected through the entrance examination get a chance to study in the 6th standard of the respective district Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya. The entrance examination conducted is based on objective type questions. Students can now also take admission in standards XI and XII. The admission test conducted for selecting students to these classes covers both descriptive and objective type of questions. In order to appear for the All India Level Entrance Exam students need to qualify certain eligibility criteria mentioned by the organization. Candidates should be between the age group of nine to thirteen years. Candidates should be a 5th standard student of any government recognized school.

80% of the seats are kept reserved for the students belonging to the rural areas. A certain number of seats are also kept for the children belonging to the SC and ST categories to join. The expenses of the students which include food, accommodation and clothing are borne by the Indian Government.

Navodaya Vidyalaya Teachers
A national level competitive examination is conducted for recruiting trained and qualified teachers for the Navodaya schools. Graduate trained teachers are recruited for teaching students from standard VI to X. For teaching students belonging to XIth and XIIth standards post graduate teachers are employed.
