Situated amid the bounty of nature, Sikkim covers an area of 7,096 sq. Km. As per the data collected in 2001 census; the state has a literacy rate of 69.68%. The schools in Sikkim follow the uniform 10+2 pattern of education like other states of the nation. The schools in Sikkim consist of primary stage, middle stage, secondary stage and higher secondary stage. The state has introduced free and compulsory education for all students within six to fourteen years of age.
