Interview with Mr Pradeep Kumar Gupta, SGI Chairman
In an interview with Indiaedu.com, Mr Pradeep Kumar Gupta, SGI Chairman, speaks about what it takes for a professional institute to excel and how the institute is catering to every professional need of the student.
1. What are the features that a student looks out for when he is hunting for a professional institute? How is SGI catering to all those?
The choice of an institution, to acquire professional qualification, is a crucial one impacting the future career success, and therefore, is by no means easy. Good academics, good placements and good infrastructure would be any intelligent student's wishlist. Sure... but let's look a little deeper... amidst plentiful claims of various institutions........
Good academics in our view is “High Value Addition”. A student who enters the college with a moderate score of (say) 62% at the 10 and +2 levels from a conventional Board exam grows to 65% or better still to 68% when passing out of the college, it shows value addition. If a candidate entering with a middle level rank of 20,000 moves up into the Top Ten of the University positions when passing out, that is tremendous value addition. Such improvements reflect the real strength of the academic discourses of the college.
Sharda Group Colleges offer the highest value additions, as demonstrated by plentiful examples of students with barely first class marks at entrance level touching 80% or above marks and securing University positions. Inferred, it also means superior faculty capabilities; superior infrastructure and learning resources like labs, libraries; workshops; softwares and above all superior inputs and processes, mentoring and teaching learning-NBA accreditations are thus a natural consequence (NBA is an expert body adjudging the course credibility at par with internationally accepted standards), no wonder SGI has 14 NBA accredited courses to offer in B.Tech, MCA & MBA; the largest for any group in entire North India and notably SGI colleges were amongst the first amongst all AICTE approved professional educational institutions - a unique distinction and a decisive proof of excellence.
2. How many of your students get placed every year?
“Placements” is another reality check- consistently good placement record shows an acceptance by Industry of the students' capability and preparation i.e. the student has met the expectations of the employer (industry and trade). Providing good career capabilities and opportunities is one of our primary objectives. Close to 130 companies recruit our students in numbers exceeding a 1000 a year, and half of which (about 500) receive placements in the pre final year stage; just goes to show that SGI students receive “many brighter opportunities” and are a preferred choice of the employers.
3. We believe you follow a holistic development model? What is it all about?
Yes we follow a “holistic development model” emphasizing the development of “winning attitudes” and imbibing of ethical values. This model is at the very root of this Industry acceptance- i.e. performing professionals - truly global in deployability and mind set, efficient in interpersonal skills & group effectiveness.
4. Any message to the students out there?
Yes, all the students should understand that the role of a good institution is as important as their own keenness and passion for success-the two together create the “Winning combination” which will help them realize their potential to the fullest.
