As the number of institutes and programmes accepting GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test) score continue to rise, the number of persons taking GMAT is also rising proportionately. It is a standardized test administered by the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC). As some of the best business schools of the world regard the GMAT score as reflective of one's capability to learn the skills needed for being a successful leader in the business establishments, students across the world prepare hard for scoring high in GMAT.

The primary objective of GMAT is to provide an idea about the cognitive capabilities of the students to the educational institutes. As such GMAT measures the verbal, mathematical and analytical writing skills of the candidates.

While the verbal section in the GMAT exam consists of 41 multiple-choice questions (within 75 minutes), the mathematical section consists of 37 multiple choice questions to be answered in 75 minutes. In the analytical writing section one would have to write two essays within an hour (3 minuets allocated for each essay).

Registering for the GMAT is hardly a problem as any one interested in taking the GMAT exam can easily register in the nearest GMAT test center online using the GMAC website. If you feel like backing out at the last moment, you can also reschedule or cancel the appointment. The GMAT exam fee is $ 250 worldwide and payment can be made through different modes. The preferred mode of payment is through credit card, master card, American Express or JCB, Debit card (Visa or Master card only), cashier's check (mailed forms only), Money order (mailed forms only) and personal check (mailed forms).

The importance to the GMAT score that some of the best institutes in the world attaches have made it a very important standardized test and therefore students wish to leave no stone unturned in order to make their GMAT preparation perfect. Many students take various GMAT coaching classes and online GMAT tutorials apart from doing self-study to perform well in the exam. However, what would matter most is the determination and motivation of the candidates.
