Film and Television Institute of India, Pune better known as FTII came into existence in the year 1960. This is not just a comprehensive film and television institute, it is considered to be among the Top Mass Communication Institutes in India. FTII is a combined effort of the Government of India in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting and it is an independent body. It is also an affiliated organization of world renowned CILECT or International Liaison Centre of Schools of Cinema and Television. The aim of FTII is to offer technical training in the domain of film producing as well as the research in diverse areas associated with films.
