Lakshmibai National College of Physical Education (LNIPE), Shaktinagar, Gwalior was founded by the government of India in 17th August 1957.It gained the status of a deemed university in the year of 1995 under UGC Act. This institute is the only Deemed University in the domain of physical education in India. It is located in the sprawling 150 acres of lush green campus at the heart of Gwalior.

Departments at Laxmibai National College of Physical Education:
- Department of Teacher Education:
The department offers Bachelors, Masters, M. Phil and PhD programs. Aim of this department is to prepare the teachers of Physical Education who can play major roles in various Universities and
colleges of India and abroad .
- Department of Coaching, Fitness and Dance
This department mainly imparts the techniques of sports coaching
- Department of Youth Affairs and Sports -
This department is accountable for youth participation in the arena of Physical Education and Sports :
- Department of Sports Management and Journalism. :
This department imparts the basic training to prepare a sports manager.
- Department of Health Sciences and Yoga Therapy:
This department primarily focuses on Yoga and Health Sciences.

This department carries out highly specialized research in sports science .

- (Four year Innovative and Integrated Degree Course)

Eligibility:
BPE diploma in physical education or graduation in any discipline with proven expertise and participation in spots activities at inter state or inter varsity level.
Selection Procedure :
An entrance test is conducted where the minimum qualifying marks is 45% (40% for SC, ST).
- Post Graduate Diploma in Sports Journalism - 1 year
- Post graduate Diploma in Yoga with Alternate Therapies - 1 Year
- Certificate Course in Yoga with Alternate Therapies - 6 Weeks
- Post graduate diploma in information technology and multimedia
Eligibility: BPE or graduation in any discipline with45% marks in aggregate (40% for SC,ST).
Selection Procedure: A written test is conducted followed by interview.
P.G. Diploma in Sports Coaching. (One Academic Session)
Eligibility
BPE, diploma in physical education or graduation in any discipline with proven expertise and participation in sports activities at inter state or inter varsity level.
Selection Procedure :
An entrance test is conducted where the minimum qualifying marks is 45%(40% for SC,ST).
Advanced Certificate Course in Sport Coaching (6 Month Duration)
Eligibility: Pass in class 12 with national or international level participation in junior and senior level.

Facilities:
The central library has about 43000 books with 58 sets of multi volume encyclopedia on physical education and its related areas. The central library subscribed 80 national and international journal of sports. It also has a well equipped laboratory, hostels .
