About University of Calcutta
The University of Calcutta, also known as Calcutta University, was formally founded on January 24, 1857. It is the first modern university in entire India. The university is administered by the state-government and is an urban-based affiliating and research university. Recently, the University has been accredited N.A.A.C. Five Star Recognition. It is also regarded as one of the world's top arts and humanities universities. Calcutta University is a member of The Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
